How to make money in Teardown and where to spend your money

Teardown is a sandbox destruction puzzle game where you are involved in many criminal activities. Funny enough vandalism is almost never your aim but we cannot help but leave buildings barely standing even if we have to only steal a painting. The destruction is just so much fun.

How to make money in Teardown

In the early levels of the game you will see valuable items that you can loot throughout the levels. Picking up these valuable items is how you make money in Teardown. At first we did not pay too much attention to these because it felt that they held no actual value despite the price tags the game puts on them. As we progressed through the game’s campaign and started unlocking more tools, we soon realised that we need money to upgrade our tools. We regret not looting the early levels more, but all hope is not lost. You can always go back to any level and complete it again and pick any remaining loot.

Teardown sandbox mode

Here is a list of what you can do with money in Teardown:

Blowtorch

The blowtorch in Teardown can easily be confused with a flamethrower. While it can set things on fire, its primary purpose is to cut through metals during missions where your hammer does not make the cut.

Shotgun

Our immediate thoughts when seeing the model of the shotgun in Teardown was, Quake 2’s shotgun and we love it! The shotgun can blast a hole in pretty much any surface. We would not recommend levelling a building using a shotgun, but if you need to shoot the hinges off doors or more targeted destruction, then the shotgun is for you.

Shotgun Rounds

Upgrading the shotgun rounds costs $200 per upgrade. You can upgrade the rounds of the shotgun a maximum of eight times.

Shotgun Range

Upgrading the shotgun rounds costs $300 per upgrade. You can upgrade the range of the shotgun three times.

Damage

Upgrading the shotgun rounds costs $400 per upgrade. You can upgrade damage of the shotgun a maximum of five times.

Plank

The plank might be a deceivingly simple item in Teardown, but do not let that fool you. You can use the plank to glue things together or even use it to get to otherwise unreachable areas of the game. A great example of the plank’s power was when you have to steal 4 cars within 60 seconds of an alarm that triggers when the vehicles drive. Instead of driving, we literally glued the vehicle and the platform it was on to an excavator and put it next to the escape truck. As soon as we had all the vehicles in place, we unglued them and into the truck to complete the mission.

Amount of Planks

Upgrading the amount of planks costs $150 per upgrade. You can upgrade the amount of planks eight times.

Plank Width

Upgrading the Width of planks costs $200 per upgrade. You can upgrade the width of planks five times.

Plank Max Length

Upgrading the amount of planks costs $300 per upgrade. You can upgrade the length of planks eight times.

Pipe Bomb

As we were progressing through Teardown’s campaign we could not wait to get our hands on the dynamite or bombs. When we finally got our hands on the Pipe Bombs, it was amazing. We immediately went into Sandbox mode and tore the place up. We were disappointed because the pipe bomb is not a precision tool and you have to throw them, making it difficult to target specific things. However, they are great for destroying small rooms or even punching a hole in a wall where you need to go through.

Pipe Bomb Rounds

Upgrading the amount of pipe bombs costs $200 per upgrade. You can upgrade the amount of pipe bombs six times.

Pipe Bomb Blast

You can upgrade the blast of the pipe bombs 4 times.

Gun

The gun was a weird unlock to us. While it does not have a big damage radius or lots of ammo, it provides you with a couple of precise sniper-like shots.

Gun Rounds

Upgrading the rounds of the gun costs $200 per upgrade. You can upgrade rounds of the gun six times.

Gun Range

Upgrading the range of the gun costs $300 per upgrade. You can upgrade the range of the gun five times.

Gun Damage

Upgrading the damage of the gun costs $300 per upgrade. You can upgrade the damage of the gun three times.

Bomb

This is our opinion, the best tool that you will get in Teardown. Not only is the blast radius larger than the pipe bomb, but you can precisely plant the bomb where you would like to inflict damage. It is important to note, once the bomb has been planted, the timer will immediately start counting down from 3 seconds, giving you little room for escape. This is the last item you unlock in Teardown, and trust us taking bombs into sandbox mode is a blast indeed!

Bomb Rounds

Upgrading the rounds of the bomb costs $400 per upgrade. You can upgrade the rounds of the bomb six times.

Bomb Damage

Upgrading the damage of the bomb costs $500 per upgrade. You can upgrade the damage of the bomb six times.

We hope this Teardown tool list gives you an idea of what tools to expect during the campaign and on which upgrades you should spend your hard earned money.
